Europe (including southern tip of Sweden, but excluding the rest of Fenno-Skandia and the British Isles and western Europe west of the Rhine River south to Sicily and Crete) east to Kazakhstan, Tadjikistan, Kerman Province of Iran (and likely adjacent Afghanistan, and Altai mountains in Russia, Mongolia, and western Xinjiang, China; isolated populations on the Balearic Is., Sardinia, Corsica; northern Africa from northern coastal Western Sahara, western Morocco and Algeria (including the Ahoggar Massif) to western Libya; southwestern Asia and Arabian Peninsula in the southern Hadramaut
